Time Zones
Today in class we learned/talked about time zones. A time zone is a region of the globe that observes a uniform standard time for legal, commercial, and social purposes. Time zones tend to follow the boundaries of other countries. Coordinate Universal Time (UCT) is the primary standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. Greenwich mean time (GMT) is often used as a synonym for UTC. GMT predates UTC by nearly 300 years. We also have Daylight Savings Times. Some temperature zone countries use Daylight Saving Time for part of the year, typically by adjusting local clock time by an hour. "Spring forward, fall back." Sunday March 10, 2019........Sunday November 3, 2019. Some people want to abolish Daylight Saving Time.
We also talked about in class that: what if we did not have time zones?
We also talked about in class that: what if we did not have time zones?
- It would have some pros and some cons
- A pro would be if you are booking a flight to a place like Australia you do not have to try to match the time zones to make sure you known your flight times
- A con would be that it would be very disorganized: the sun would be setting at 1 in some areas
