A message to Garcia Elbert Hubbard 1899
Today in Human Geo we read A Message to Garcia Elbert Hubbard 1899. It started off as the Spanish American War (Spain vs. USA). They were fighting for control over Cuba. Garcia was a leader of insurgent. He was hiding in Cuba. The President of the Untied States wanted to talk to Garcia. So President Mckinley gave Rowan a letter to find and give it to Garcia. Rowan asked no questions. Three weeks later, Rowan found Garcia in the jungle. Rowan was a hero.
Elbert Hubbard thought that everyone should be more like Rowan. Rowan did what he was tolds and didn't ask any questions. He believes that there are lot's of people who are lazy and incapable. Hubbard thinks the only way to make people to do their job is to beat them or threaten to fire them. As this went on workers started to form Unions. Hubbard was in favor of the bosses oppose to the workers.
